NY Water Taxi calls Red Hook in Brooklyn home.
Erie Basin in Red Hook, alongside the O’Connell organization’s German American Stores building, is the home of NY Water Taxi. This is the home base from which the company operates sighteseeing, charter, and ferry operations. The popular IKEA ferry landing is nearby, which carries passengers from Lower Manhattan to South Brooklyn.
NY Water Taxi maintains a repair and maintenance shop at the German American stores, taking advantage of the unique combination of maritime bulkhead and expansive footprint offered by the O’Connell property. This is also where the boats are loaded with refreshments and the spot where they rotate crews.
Erie Basin was once the center of NY Harbor’s maritime community, with ship builders and enormous warehouses like the German Stores allowing cargo to be loaded and unloaded from ships. The O’Connell Organization is proud to help the waterfront stay working.
